Kenny Broberg

Broberg Kenny Broberg was born in 1993 and has studied the piano since age six. A resident of Minneapolis, Kenny studied for nine years with Dr. Joseph Zins. Following high school, he moved to Houston, where he currently studies at the Moores School of Music with Nancy Weems. He has also taken private lessons from or been in masterclasses with Abbey Simon, Bernd Goetzke, Menahem Pressler, and Arie Vardi, among others. He plays “with an emotional sophistication far beyond his years” (Duluth News Tribune).

Kenny has played concerti with a number of orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, and the Moores School Wind Ensemble. Awards include the Bronze Medal at the Wideman International Piano Competition, Semi-finalist at the Louisiana International Piano Competition, and the Gold Medal at the Mika Hasler Young Artist Competition. He performed with the New Orleans Civic Symphony as a result of his winning First Prize in the 2012 New Orleans Piano Institute (NOPI) Concerto Auditions.

Kenny is the first NOPI student to participate as a semifinalist in the New Orleans International Piano Competition. His solo, concerto, and chamber performances have been aired on the radio on NPR and KUHF 91.7 Houston.
