Adam Paul Mayon is a native of Morgan City, Louisiana. Born to be a musician, he started taking piano lessons with Claire Sampey at the age of 5, and he has kept his musical dreams alive for the past 15 years. Adam was awarded the Ignatian scholarship from Loyola University in New Orleans in 2008. He is currently a senior at Loyola, majoring in piano performance and studying under Dr. John Murphy, Professor of Piano at Loyola. Other teachers of great influence in Adam’s life include Dr. Frank Heneghan and Dr. Chan Kiat Lim. Adam’s passion for the piano has taken him a long way; in 2009, he won Loyola’s Concerto and Aria Competition as a freshman. In the spring of 2011, he was declared the national winner of the Music Teachers National Association Piano Competition, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Loyola also awarded him the Theodore Presser Scholarship for being a promising and worthy musician.
