The Department of Music at Nicholls State University will host the fourth annual Monster Piano Concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Talbot Theater on campus.
Several pianists, including faculty, students, alumni and guests, will perform on 21 Steinway pianos – all to be placed on stage. The evening will begin with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30. Tickets are $50 per person and include food, drink and entertainment. All proceeds will benefit the Department of Music.
“This year’s event will be very exciting because a representative of Steinway & Sons, from New York, will be on hand to present our university with an ‘All-Steinway’ plaque,” Dr. Carol Britt, head of the Department of Music, said. “The designation puts the Nicholls Department of Music in very prestigious company. About 130 institutions in the world can claim the title, and we know it will go a long way toward recruiting the best music students to our school.”
Nicholls is the only public school in Louisiana to have been granted “All-Steinway” status.
