Pianist and composer Dmitri Levkovich recently established himself in the classical music world following a series of successes in international piano competitions. During the 2005-06 season, Mr. Levkovich won 1st prize in the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, 2nd in the Bosendorfer USASU International Piano Competition, 3rd in the New Orleans International Piano Competition, the Semifinalist prize in the prestigious 15th International Fryderick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and 5th place in the World International Piano Competition. Most recently, he was awarded the Chopin Prize at the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition and won 1st prize, as well as the Public prize in the Viardo International Piano Competition. Born to a family of musicians, by the age of ten he performed his own works at Kiev Contemporary Music Festival and had a reading of his music by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. In 1990, the Levkovich family moved to Israel, and in 1993 they settled in Toronto, Canada. Dmitri Levkovich holds a Diploma in Composition from the Curtis Institute of Music, and his compositions have been performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Liepaya Philharmonic and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Levkovich played a debut recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in December of 2006. His stage appearances include performances in Austria, France, Canada, Chile, Japan, Israel, Poland, United Kingdom, Ukraine and United States. He was featured as a soloist with National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra, Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, Takamatsu International Piano Competition Orchestra, Florence Symphony Orchestra, Piano Symphony Orchestra, Hilton Head Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Levkovich received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees under the tutelage of renowned pianist Sergei Babayan at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
