2012 Sangwon KimSangwon Kim was born in Seoul, Korea. She has completed her B.A. at Seoul National University and her M.A. at Manhattan School of Music. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Seoul National University with Hyoung-Joon Chang. She received the Artist Diploma from London’s Royal College of Music where she studied with Dmitri Alexeev She has played with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Georgia National Symphony Orchestra, the Bucheon Symphony Orchestra, the Daegu Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul National University Alumni Orchestra. She is also participating in various projects including the Toradze Piano Studio as a guest soloist. She has been heard on Chicago’s WFMT radio station and in concert in Tel Aviv’s Chamber Music Hall. She recorded Beethoven piano concertos No.1 and No.3 in Prague at Smetana Hall with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The CD of this performance will be released next year. Sangwon Kim has been heard in numerous solo recitals on international stages in the United States, Italy, Israel, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Finland, United Kingdom and Korea. In addition, she has received awards at the Jacob Flier International Piano Competition, the St. Petersburg Piano Competition in Russia, and the Kumho Young Artist Competition in Korea. In May 2011 she was among the winners of the Washington International Piano Competition.
