2011 Kimberly HouKimberly Hou began piano at the age of four, and now studies with Dr. Marjorie Lee. The First Prize winner of the 2009 Music Teachers National Association Junior Piano competition, she is also a winner of the 2010 Chopin Scholarship, sponsored by the Chopin foundation of the United States. She has been invited to appear on NPR’s From the Top and the 2009 National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and has performed with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra. Kimberly has also performed at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Millennium Stage and Terrace Theater, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and the Hungarian and Bulgarian Embassies. In March, Kimberly performed two benefit concerts for the Kids In Need Foundation. Other first prizes include the 23rd and 25th International Young Artist Piano Competitions, the Virginia Music Teachers Association Concerto competition, the American Fine Arts Festival Competition in Carnegie Hall, and over twenty-five regional, national and international competitions. Kimberly enjoys reading, biology, debate club and learning foreign languages.
